Am I Dreaming or is this for REAL?

Good morning,   After receiving news that I had cancer last Friday, I decided the best way to express my thoughts and keep my friends and family informed would be to create a blog…. So here goes.  I am an amateur blogger… so if you have any helpful suggestions, please pass them along.  I will post a “Thoughtful Reflection” every day…. or at I’ll try to make them thoughtful, so you will see the good bad and ugly of one that is experiencing the Journey of Cancer.  Your comments are welcome as you go on this Journey with me.

  1. Hi I just wanted to say I would like to follow your blog on your journey with cancer..I’m sorry to hear of your prognosis…God has His reasons for all of your surgery’s and now this….we want to ask sometimes why me? But then God may say why not you? As long as he gets all the glory for what ever turns out.
I pray for you to our heavenly Father that God gives you the energy, courage, and strength that will be needed to climb up this hill w/Him….you will be able to reach the top together. Take a ride by yourself on a country road if possible, take along a worship CD and then once out there…roll down the windows and WORSHIP WORSHIP WORSHIP!!! Sing as if your were singing to JESUS….Praise ! Praise His Holy name! With ALL of your heart just let your voice be heard!!!! Do that a few times a week as long as you feel up to it..you’ll be amazed what it will do for you!

  2. Hi Marilyn:

I am Robin Gove’s sister (I won’t mention that I’m older) and have heard so many great things about “Marilyn” over the last year or so. You have been such a blessing to Robin, and I want to thank you for that.

Robin emailed me earlier this week with the tentative diagnosis you received, and we immediately put it on our church prayer chain. We have seen sooooooooooo many of God’s miracles thru our prayer chain, and we know that “nothing is impossible with our Lord and Savior” — therefore, we are expecting a good report when you visit your doctor in July. In the meantime, we will continue to lift you up in prayer.

I know the feeling of being told I had the “C” word. Eight years ago just after my husband and I retired from our secular jobs and were going to lead a more meaningful and fun life pastoring our church, I received that “C” diagnosis — having breast cancer. My world fell apart — because that was not in our plans. HOWEVER, in looking back — it was a blessing for me. It caused me to turn everything over to the Lord and lean on my favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 3:5-6.. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding…………….” I also experienced those 2:30 a.m. panic talks with God, and then he would reassure me that He was carrying me thru this ………and I would fall back into a peaceful sleep.

At the time, I didn’t understand why I had to go thru this — but as a Pastor’s wife — I now can see God’s plan……. There have been several ladies in our church that have had “C” scares, and I can minister to them by saying — “Yes, I’ve been there — but God carried me all the way thru it — and I’ve graduated: Cancer free!” Just knowing that someone else came thru the “C” experience is comforting……

I’m sure God is using you in this same way. You have already touched so many lives (heard this from Robin) that you can also minister to them thru your threat of cancer.

I’ll be praying for you, and look forward to seeing you sometime when I’m visiting Robin. God bless you. Sharon 🙂
